How to Fertilize Fields in Farming Simulator 25 – All Fertilizer Types

In Farming Simulator 25 you can use 4 types of fertilizer: solid fertilizer, liquid fertilizer, slurry, and manure. Whichever type you use, spreading fertilizer on a field increases yield by the same amount.

If you use the Precision Farming DLC, each fertilizer type has its own nitrogen level. So if you fertilized a field with solid fertilizer and next time apply slurry, you may not reach maximum yield for the whole field in one pass – slurry has a lower nitrogen level than solid and liquid fertilizer.

For maximum yield in the base game, you need to fertilize a field twice at different times. With the Precision Farming DLC, variable-rate fertilizing means the job is typically done in a single pass.

Each fertilizer application increases maximum yield by 22.5%. After two applications, you get a 45% maximum yield bonus.

Solid and liquid fertilizer can be bought from the store.

You can spread solid fertilizer on the field surface with a fertilizer spreader during seeding, before seeding, or after seeding.

Liquid fertilizer can be sprayed during seeding and later on the field. If your seeder has a liquid fertilizer tank, you can fertilize while planting. Liquid fertilizer can also be sprayed on the field surface with sprayers.

Slurry is produced daily if you own a cow farm and have placed a slurry tank near the farm. Even without a cow farm, you can still buy slurry. Buy it from the Animal Dealer sell point on the map. It is the cheapest fertilizing option.

To apply slurry to the field, you need a slurry tanker and a spreader attachment.

Manure is one of the most efficient fertilizers. If you own a cow farm and there is a manure heap nearby, you can produce manure. For a cow farm to produce manure, you must spread straw in the barn. Otherwise it will not produce manure (straw is not required for slurry).

You can also fill up on manure at the Animal Dealer. It costs the same as slurry. Approach the fill icon next to the Animal Dealer manure heap with a manure spreader and press R to start filling.

Tips That Make Fertilizing Easier

  • After harvesting, cultivate the field, then apply the first fertilizer. That way you finish the first fertilizing pass before the crop is in, so you do not need narrow tires yet.
  • Do one fertilizing pass while using a seeder or planter. You plant and fertilize at the same time, which reduces workload.
  • Use slurry or manure – the cheapest fertilizing options. Avoid liquid fertilizer, which is the most expensive.
  • If you fertilize after the crop is planted, always use a tractor and fertilizer equipment with narrow tires.
  • We recommend the Bredal K105, which can spread both lime and fertilizer and covers two jobs with one machine.
  • Because fertilizing must be done twice, a lasting solution is to set up a cow farm. The farm keeps producing fertilizer, and fertilizer cost drops to almost nothing.
  • At least one month must pass between the two fertilizer applications. Otherwise the second pass does not count. Even fertilizing in the month before harvest still works.
  • Fertilizer contracts are among the highest-paying and easiest contracted jobs. To maximize income on them, fertilize with manure or slurry.
