How to Remove Weeds in Farming Simulator 25
In Farming Simulator 25, if you plant a crop and do not control weeds, your yield will drop. Clear the weeds and you get up to a 20% yield bonus at harvest. The earlier you remove them, the higher that bonus stays.

Removing Small weeds with a weeder gives the full 20% yield bonus. Removing Medium weeds with a hoe (such as the Pöttinger Rotocare V 12400) also restores the full 20% yield bonus. If the weeds grow Large and you have to kill them with herbicide, you only get around a 5% yield bonus, because chemical treatment carries a yield penalty. The tables below show the test results in detail.
When you plow a field and then follow it with a cultivator pass, weeds will not grow 🙂
FS25 Weed Removal Test on Zielonka Field 45
Map: Zielonka | Field: 45 | Fertilization: 50% (1 application) | Crop: Canola
| Months | Yield | Weed Status |
| September (Canola was planted in the field.) | 57% | growing |
| October | 48% | small |
| November | 43% | medium |
| December | 38% | large |
| January | 38% | large |
| February | 38% | large |

| April | 38% | large |
| May | 38% | large |
| June | 38% | large |
| July | 38% | large |
| August (Harvest Season) | 38% | large |
In Table 1, no weeder was used from canola seeding through harvest, and a clear yield drop was observed.
| Months | Yield | Weed Status |
| September (Canola was planted in the field.) | 57% | growing |
| October | 48% | small |
| October (Weeder was used.) | 57% (Lost Yield: 0%) | – |
In Table 2, one month after seeding – during the crop’s first growth stage, when weeds were still Small – a weeder and a sprayer were used, and the resulting yield was recorded.
| Months | Yield | Weed Status |
| September (Canola was planted in the field.) | 57% | growing |
| October | 48% | small |
| November | 43% | medium |
| November (Weeder (Pöttinger Rotocare V 12400) was used.) | 57% (Lost Yield: 0%) | – |
In Table 3, two months after seeding – when weeds had reached Medium stage – weed control was done with the Pöttinger Rotocare V 12400 hoe, and the resulting yield was recorded.
| Months | Yield | Weed Status |
| September (Canola was planted in the field.) | 57% | growing |
| October | 48% | small |
| October (Sprayer was used.) | 57% (Lost Yield: 0%) | – |
| November | 43% | medium |
| November (Sprayer was used.) | 48% (Lost Yield: 10%) | – |
| December | 38% | large |
| December (Sprayer was used.) | 43% (Lost Yield: 15%) | – |
| July Before harvest | 38% | large |
| July (Sprayer was used.) | 43% (Lost Yield: 15%) | – |
In Table 4, a sprayer was used and yield was observed across every crop growth stage.
How to Clear Small, Medium & Large Weeds in FS25
The month after you plant a field, weeds start growing alongside the crop. At this point you can stop them while they are still Small by using a weeder.

You can clear Small weeds with any implement in the Weeders category.

If you skip the first month, weeds reach Medium stage the following month. They spread across the planted field and keep growing until you act. At Medium stage, a normal weeder is no longer enough – you need a hoe that can handle Medium weeds, or you must spray herbicide with a sprayer.

Equipment you can use for Medium weeds:

Shop > Yield Improvements > Weeders > Pöttinger Rotocare V 12400

If you also skip Medium stage, the next month weeds become Large. Weeders and hoes can no longer remove them. The only option is a sprayer with herbicide to kill the weeds.

FS25 Weed Control Tips
- Weeds appear on planted fields, so fit narrow tires on your tractor to avoid damaging the crop.
- Herbicide reduces the yield bonus if you do not use it while weeds are still Small. The earlier you clear weeds, the higher the yield bonus you keep.
- You still get a yield bonus if you clear weeds as late as the month before harvest – but the later you intervene, the smaller that bonus becomes.
- Mechanical weeders/hoes are always the cheaper way to protect farm profit. Herbicide is expensive, and with the Precision Farming DLC it also lowers your environmental score.
- Herbicide kills weeds, so dead plants can stay visible and wilted on the field. Exception: if you spray Small weeds with herbicide, they disappear the next month instead of staying as dead patches. Weeders and hoes remove weeds completely and do not leave that poor look on the planted field.
- Herbicide has no effect when the crop is fully grown / ready to harvest.
